The 1st of August marks National Spritz Day, so here are our favourite Spritz cocktails to celebrate the delicious Italian drink!
What is a spritz? A spritz is a refreshing wine-based cocktail, usually created by adding soda water to a base of wine and other flavourings, such as vermouth, a variety of spirits and fresh fruit juices.
This aperitif cocktail's origins date back to the end of the 19th century when Austrian soldiers were posted in the Venice region and requested that the barkeeps add a splash of water to their wine, to achieve a similar alcohol content to the the beer they were more accustomed to drinking.
Fast forward 200 years, the classic aperitivo, the Aperol Spritz, has become a summer go to with the vivid orange cocktail being seen in bars across the world. We have reimagined the genre and created 4 original and delicious takes on the spritz, designed to be enjoyed with friends while dreaming of the beautiful Italian coast.

Rhubarb and Cucumber Spritz
With the delights of tart ‘forced’ Rhubarb in mind, our Kocktail curator sprang to work creating this delightful spritz. Rosé wine and sweet rhubarb liqueur are complimented by cucumber syrup and agave to round out the flavour profile.

Our own decidedly modern take on the genre, we’ve added the natural sweetness of honey and passionfruit which is tempered by the pleasing bitter-sweetness of Campari.
