Sleeping Lotus

This refreshing ‘mojito style’ twist on the popular Army and Navy, drinks like the Army and Navy cocktail on leave in the Bahamas.
The Army and Navy first appeared in David. A. Embury’s1948 “The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks” and was created to celebrate a football game between the army and navy. It is a simple gin cocktail that has a slight tiki vibe due to the almond-flavoured orgeat syrup and the use of classic aromatic bitters.
Rather than being served in a buttoned-up fashion, in a coupé with no garnish, the Sleeping Lotus relaxes over crushed ice in a rocks glass, topped with lime and mint (optional). The mint-infused gin adds a cooling element, while orange bitters add a bitter citrus note.
